Operation Womble: Thorney Island Litter Pick Walk
Thorney Island is situated in Chichester Harbour and is one of its best kept secrets. With its sandy beach, RSPB nature reserve, and stunning coastal path that encircles the island. The island is also well known for its Seal Population, where both Common and Grey seals are often seen on the beaches and surrounding waters.
Unfortunately, Thorney Island suffers from rubbish being swept on its coastline by the tide due to its proximity to the entrance of Chichester Harbour.
Would you like to help improve the Thorney Island environment and make its beaches pristine again? If so, please join us for our Operation Womble Walk on the 26th of June 2021.
We have teamed up with the Royal Artillery, based on Thorney Island, to organise a walk around the stunning Thorney Island with the aim of removing the litter that is washed up on the spectacular beaches that surround it. We are looking for volunteers to join us (limited to 100). Everyone is welcome!
The Royal Artillery will be supporting the event by providing refreshments, removal of any litter collected, and personnel. A water stop will be positioned approximately halfway around the 7.5 mile route.
