More about Combat Stress

We provide clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, focusing on those with complex mental health issues resulting from their experiences during military service. When some military personnel leave service, their experiences can’t easily be left behind. Without treatment, psychological trauma can eventually tear lives apart.

We believe military trauma shouldn’t destroy the lives of veterans and their families. For over a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity, the work we do is life-changing and often life-saving. No one else does what we do. We provide the only intensive mental health treatment service to UK veterans. Our services are provided across the UK, in-person and online.

At a time that can be isolating and daunting, we're here to help.

How your support could help us:

By joining #TeamCombatStress in the Derbyshire Dales Trail Run, you are helping us to achieve our vision for all former service personnel with complex mental health conditions to live full and meaningful lives. To give you an idea of the impact of your support:

£19 could provide an art therapy supplies pack – helping a veteran express their emotions, process trauma, and take a vital step forward in their recovery.

£33 could provide a veteran with a session with a Peer Recovery Worker, offering support, guidance and reassurance from a fellow veteran who understands their recovery experience.

£46 could fund a session with a Recovery Support Worker, offering practical and emotional support to help a veteran stay engaged in treatment, working alongside nurses and other professionals.

£85 could fund a session for a veteran with a mental health nurse to help them with a range of issues including alcohol and drug use, PTSD symptoms, anger management and sleep hygiene.

£115 could go towards paying for a veteran to have an appointment with a psychological therapist, helping them process and make sense of their trauma to support their recovery.
