Protecting and improving the lives of vulnerable animals in Hampshire.
RSPCA Solent Branch CIO (locally known as RSPCA The Stubbington Ark) is an independent branch of the RSPCA, and a separately registered charity. We receive no funding from the main RSPCA charity. However, we work with and support their Inspectors by taking in animals that have nowhere else to go, but the majority of our care goes to local animals signed over to us by members of the public, council authorities and strays.
More about RSPCA Solent
We own and operate a large animal centre called The Stubbington Ark, where we care for a wide range of domestic pets, farm animals and wildlife, many of which have come from our 400 square mile catchment area in Hampshire.
The Stubbington Ark costs approximately £1.4m each year to run, all of which has to be raised by ourselves and our loyal supporters, just to keep The Ark afloat!
We rely heavily on donations, which enable us to:
- Maintain our 8 acre animal centre that cares for dogs, cats, stock animals, small furries and wildlife
- Rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and/or release hundreds of animals every year
- Provide veterinary care and behaviour support to our animals
- Educate and support the local community with animal welfare
- Ensure that every animal has the best chance of finding their forever home or being released back into the wild.
A bit about our animal centre
The Stubbington Ark is located in Fareham, on an 8-acre farm site. We have facilities to house dogs, cats, small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents and birds, along with fields for farm animals, and wildlife facilities.
Before our animals are rehomed/released they undergo rehabilitation (if needed) and have a full health check at our in-house Veterinary Unit complete with operating theatre. They are given all necessary veterinary care which may include neutering, dentals, x-rays as well as microchipping, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
So far in 2025 we have rehomed 86 dogs, 142 cats, 73 small and stock animals, and released 9 wildlife back into their natural habitats.
