The Jurassic Express Trail Hike begins on the beautiful Swanage seafront and takes you on an unforgettable journey through some of the South Coast's most iconic landscapes. This spectacular coastal walking and hiking challenge offers three distances to choose from: 21k (Half Marathon), 16.5k, or 10.5k, making it ideal for walkers and hikers of all abilities.
...From the very first steps, you'll enjoy breathtaking Jurassic Coast views, following a route that guides you past unforgettable landmarks such as Old Harry Rocks, Studland, and the majestic Corfe Castle. The terrain combines firm chalk paths with sandy coastal tracks, providing enjoyable, varied walking conditions whether you're taking on a challenge or simply soaking up the scenery.
Your adventure continues even after you reach the finish line. After completing your challenge beneath the historic ruins of Corfe Castle, you'll board a private vintage steam train for a memorable journey back to Swanage. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the nostalgic charm of the Swanage Railway—an unforgettable way to end your Jurassic adventure.
Train tickets are £8 per person and can be purchased during booking. Spectators are welcome and can buy train tickets from our online shop or on the day.

Pick your distance
More noticeable hills and longer climbs, balanced with great descents and walkable sections. Terrain may be uneven in places, but always manageable. Perfect if you enjoy feeling worked without being pushed to the limit.
Rolling hills and varied off-road terrain. You'll enjoy a mix of woodland paths, open trails, and gentle climbs. A satisfying challenge that feels rewarding rather than tough.
Gently rolling trails with small ups and downs. Mostly wide, walkable paths with good footing throughout. A great introduction to trail hiking while still feeling comfortable and fun.

How to get there
Please note: There is no on-site parking available for this event. However, plenty of public car parks are located nearby. Please note, it is your responsibility to check for all relevant parking charges.

Things to note
- Please note: We will be sending your hiking bibs to you by post. If you have opted for a train ticket wristband, this will be included in the same package.
- Save The Event Phone Number: 02033 717 156.
- Bib numbers should be displayed clearly on the front of you.
- We are plastic free, please bring a reusable cup / bottle for use at the water stations.
- There will be First Aid support located at the on-course aid stations and event centre.
Spectators
Spectators are always welcome at the Jurassic Express Hiking Trail (Swanage). We love that spectators further add to the fantastic atmosphere at the event.
Course Signage
The hike will be clearly signed using PINK arrows and PINK tape.
We will also mark hazards and road junctions with 'Caution' signs. Please take care at these points.
Event Day Timings
7:15 am* - Venue Opens
The car park opens to allow hikers to prepare themselves for the hike and grab a coffee.
8:30 AM* - All Hiking Distances Start!
The hike kicks off as the walkers cross the start line.
1:45 pm* - The Hike Finishes / Cut-off Time
Your adventure finishes, you will cross the finish line and collect your bag full of goodies.
PLEASE NOTE: The last train will leave at 1:45pm
2:30 pm* - The Event Centre Closes
The venue closes.
