Kick-start your 2026 walking season and stay true to those New Year's resolutions on a route that perfectly balances challenge with enjoyment.
Set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside just outside Winchester on the stunning tracks, bridleways, and footpaths that surround the famous Farley Mount. This local landmark is the jewel in the crown of this rewarding Hiking Event.
Starting from the well-equipped Sparsholt College there is plentiful hard-standing parking and the picturesque and unspoiled route. The route is rolling rather than hilly, so will ease you into your new year of walking.
The route consists of visually rewarding tree-lined sections and spectacular vistas over the Hampshire countryside and a little climb up to Farley's Mount on the Epic route.
Regardless of experience or ability, we actively encourage new hikers to our events and have 2 route lengths to choose from. As soon as you complete your walk, you'll be greeted with a high-quality medal, a cool drink, and a selection of finisher goodies.

Things to note
- You will collect your hiking bib number on arrival at the event. Please bring your QR code with you on the day and head to 'Registration' for collection.
- Save The Event Phone Number: 02033 717 156.
- Bib numbers should be displayed clearly on the front of you.
- We are plastic free, please bring a reusable cup / bottle for use at the water stations.
- There will be First Aid support located at the on-course aid stations and event centre.
Spectators
Spectators are always welcome at the Winchester Hiking Trail. We love that spectators further add to the fantastic atmosphere at the event.
Course Signage
The hike will be clearly signed using PINK arrows and PINK tape.
We will also mark hazards and road junctions with 'Caution' signs. Please take care at these points.
Event Day Timings
7:15 am* - Venue Opens
The car park opens to allow hikers to prepare themselves for the hike and grab a coffee.
9:00 AM* - All Hiking Distances Start!
The hike kicks off as the walkers cross the start line.
2:00 pm* - The Hike Finishes / Cut-off Time
Your adventure finishes, you will cross the finish line and collect your bag full of goodies.
2:30 pm* - The Event Centre Closes
The venue closes.
